May we continue to make art that incites censorship and threatens to bring the army beating down our desert door.-Xerrie

The reason that I am creating this blog is because historically the narratives of Queer women of color have been underrepresented by the dominant culture. This blog will hopefully voice the narratives of Queer women of color, now my blog cannot reach all Queer women of color because as people often do. I put myself into my work. Therefore, a lot of the blogging I do is more Latina centered which focuses on the “borderland consciousness”. This consciousness was first introduced by Chicana feminist writer Gloria E. Anzaldúa as a notion of always existing in “the in between space”. Due to our existing complex intersecting identities, which encompasses many of the narratives that queer/women of color experience.
The main purpose of this blog is to share the knowledge and experiences with other Queer women of color in order to theoretically queer the hetero-normative culture through education and awareness of Queer women of color issues. This blog will use short films, poetry, articles, books and graphics to make the teaching and learning experience possible.
